The Women and Society
Unpublished Scholarly Papers Repository

The purpose of this Repository is to encourage authors who have unpublished scholarly papers to allow others access to them so as to permit comments and feedback on the papers, as well as encourage their eventual publication in final form through usual channels (e.g. refereed journals). From the perspective of the latter, it is hoped that not only will the papers be read by regular site visitors, but also by editors of journals, and publishers.

If you wish to submit a paper for inclusion in this repository, then please follow these procedures:

1. Using either MS Word or Wordperfect, save your document in HTML format (do a "save as" in your file menu). Pull up this HTML document in either Netscape Composer or some other HTML editor and format and save the document in standard printed page form (e.g. single spacing, Times Roman 10 pt font, etc.)

2. Send us an e-mail through our contact page telling us that you would like to submit the paper to the Women and Society Unpublished Papers Repository.

3. We will then send you further instructions on how to submit to us the HTML formatted document as an e-mail attachment.

4. Please note the following when submitting a paper to the Repository:

  • This is a free service. There are no fees for this service.
  • The paper must be directly relevant (NOT tangentially relevant--we reserve the right to rule on this) to the subject matter of this site (which, in a nutshell, is the exploration of the women and society nexus).
  • The paper must of a scholarly type (e.g. NOT a popular magazine type) and must conform to standard scholarly written practices (footnotes, citations, bibliography, etc.)
  • Copyright of the paper rests with the author(s)
  • Your paper must be accompanied by a contact e-mail address that will appear with the paper so that readers may get in touch with you if they so wish.
  • Authors are responsible for originality of content. The Women and Society Internet Project Team takes no responsibility for certifying the originality of content of a paper in the Repository.
  • Authors are responsible for all proof-reading of their papers before submitting it. NOTE: A paper may be submitted only ONCE; that is, no revisions are permitted (by resubmitting a paper)--we have to maximize our resources.
  • All communications regarding the paper by readers will take place directly with the author(s) through e-mail.
  • A short paragraph of the author's professional biography at the beginning of the document is recommended (but not required).
  • An abstract of the article, with KEY WORDS highlighted, must appear at the beginning of the document. Papers without abstracts will be rejected.
  • Papers must be of a normal journal article length.
  • There is no limit to the total number of unique papers submitted.
  • Your paper must be in the English language when it is submitted to the repository.
  • Papers will be listed by authors (alphabetically) and by subject category. Author must indicate the subject category from the Repository Subjects List. Click on the link below for the subjects list.
  • In the event a paper is published in regular channels then you must inform us so that we can remove your paper and in its place provide the relevant citation of your published paper.
