The Women and Society
Course Syllabi Repository

The purpose of this syllabi repository is to encourage an interchange of ideas among teachers, as well as provide those who are new to teaching with examples that they can use to develop their own courses.

If you wish to submit a syllabus for inclusion in this repository, then please follow these procedures:

1. Using either MS Word or Wordperfect, save your document in HTML format (do a "save as" in your file menu). Pull up the HTML document in either Netscape Composer or some other HTML editor and format and save the document in standard printed page form (e.g. single spacing, Times Roman 10 pt font, etc.)

2. Send  us an e-mail through our contact page telling us that you would like to submit the syllabus to the Women and Society Course Syllabi Repository.

3. We will then send you further instructions on how to submit to us the HTML formatted document as an e-mail attachment.

4. Please note the following when submitting your syllabus to the Repository:

  • This is a free service. There are no fees for this service.
  • Please do NOT submit a syllabus if one already exists in the repository that is SUBSTANTIALLY identical to yours (we reserve the right to make a determination of this).
  • Copyrights of the syllabi rest with the authors.
  • Your syllabus must be accompanied by a contact e-mail address that will appear with the syllabus (so that those looking at your syllabus may get in touch with you if they so wish).
  • All communications regarding a syllabus by readers will take place directly with the author(s) through e-mail.
  • A short paragraph of the author's professional biography at the beginning of the document is recommended (but not required).
  • An abstract of the course description, with KEY WORDS highlighted, must appear at the beginning of the document. Syllabi without abstracts will be rejected.
  • All syllabi submitted must have at the minimum the following basic structure (in the absence of which they will be rejected):

  •
    • 1. A detailed description of the purpose and goals of the course;
    • 2. A listing of course topics by week;
    • 3. A list of required readings with full bibliographic information for each item; and
    • 4. A description of course requirements.

    •
  • There is no limit to the total number of unique syllabi submitted.
  • Your syllabus must be in the English language when it is submitted to the repository.
  • Syllabi will be listed by level (graduate or undergraduate) and then by authors (alphabetically). The syllabi will also be listed by subject category. Authors may indicate the subject category at the time they submit their syllbi.

The repository link will be here <----> when syllabi begin to be received.

Many thanks to Dr. L. Ilon for the original idea for creating this service.
